Hi all,
I'm new to all this, in fact, if I told you that the first doctor I watched as a small boy was the 'first doctor'. Well then, you'll know what I mean when I say I'm new to this.
The TV show has always been a part of my life, yet not in the way that I could quote you every episode. I've always admired the doctor himself, albeit, the character of the doctor. And recently I've been exhibiting (art) at more and more comic-cons and have revelled in all the cosplay, so thought it high time to join in. So, as I'd finally taken the decision to get around to making a Doctor Who costume, I thought I'd pop up some images of work so far? Best way is in a thread, so here goes.
So were does one start? Well for me it's been the coat. Images leaked of John Hurt in costume some months prior to transmission of 'Day of the Doctor'. And it was intriguing to see the U-boat leather he was wearing. Of course speculation ran high as it's connection to the ninth doctor's coat, however, with more distressing to the leather. I was lucky enough to find a good thick-black-leather-coat in a charity shop, and for the price, wouldn't feel too bad attacking it with a belt-sander! Here it is with the 'ammo belt', prior to some of the more serious distressing. As for the belt; this was a basic gun belt bought off eBay. The add-ons made of leather and plasticard, then painted.

The scarf has been an escapade to say the least? There is a costumier that's making a replica www.magnoliclothiers.com/war-doctor-scarf-scarves-p-599.html. But at $75, I don't think so, do you? So with a little perseverance I came across someone on eBay (yet again) selling general tweed scarves and one in their range was red & white, hey presto!
Okay, as this is the first thread I'll leave it there for now. There's lots more to come, so if I haven't sent anyone of you to sleep, then keep your eyes open for more. Similarly, if there is any information that I can help you with in the meantime, don't be shy and ask away, okay?
