I'm of the age now where I don't actually give a hooping funt what other people think of me. I'll be any me I wish to be. I'll dress as Doctor Who if I wish to (and I do, constantly!), and I'll surround myself with the people and things that feel the same way in life. If they think Doctor Who, or cosplay, or having my own TARDIS and K-9, are "weird", or "childish" etc etc, they don't last long around me.

It's a question of working on the attitude you need. Not to be rude or anything, that rather defeats the object of the exercise, but to be able to brush of small minded jealous people as just that. Not important, and certainly not worth worrying about. As #5 would say... "Brave heart, Tegan."
