So, my ten year old daughter is about as big a DW fan as her mother, and has opted to be a Weeping Angel for Halloween (anyone else see Halloween as one giant cosplay opportunity?). However, the costume and makeup are a bit much for school, so she's decided Eleven is an acceptable alternative. Shirt and pants are simple, I'm guessing her classmates are not going to care about screen accuracy! But I am having a heck of a time finding even an alt jacket for her in her size! I can borrow suspenders and a bowtie, and even make the fez if I have to, but the jacket! I haven't had any luck with the thrift shops either. She also wants to attend OryCon with me in November, so I'd really like to get it put together for her.

What's your budget? I've never had to look for children's sized cosplay items before but I'm just going through random brands I know that make great children's clothes and I happened to find an absolutely lovely jacket over at Zara, but it is quite pricey for something she may or may not wear a lot. I'll let you know if I find something else as well!

Are you looking for boy's suits/jackets? Can you ask around to family/friends that have boys where they shop for dress clothes for their kids?

I'm thinking now I'll probably just end up making it myself. I have the fabric (well, something that will pass at a distance to a classroom full of American fifth graders anyways). Now the challenge is getting a pattern, any pattern. Plenty of patterns out there in general for women's formal wear type stuff. Suits and such for boys/men? Nada. But yes, I'll probably go with a boy's style jacket.
