Thank you so much to everyone who made today such a wonderful one! Had an awesome time at my first comic-con, I loved it so so much! Got some photos that I'll post later or tomorrow, just wanted to say thanks to you all

I would have to say this is probably the best con I have been to in a long time too. It's the first time I've really made an effort to make friends outside of idle chatting in queue lines. In the past I have tended to go with friends and mostly interact just with them, but I definitely now see why I should say hello to others too!
As with everyone else, I shall post pictures soon, probably tomorrow sometime.

The Despicable Me cosplay group was hands down one of my favourite things all weekend. Those kids were too cute and had posing down too. Lots of adorable cosplay kids! x

Mine too - I tend not to take many pictures of cosplayers, just because there's so much going on, but I saw them and HAD to get a photo.

What was people overall feedback on the 'Cosplay Guests'? There were 9 guests in total including me and we were all based where I was. Having done it from 'both sides of the table' so to speak I'm intrigued what others thought. Please let me know the positives and negatives

Having done it from 'both sides of the table' so to speak I'm intrigued what others thought. Please let me know the positives and negatives I thought it was good but I also think the idea needed more refinement. I know that the purpose of it was for people to find out about your cosplays, and also to get advice on their own cosplays. However, I don't think that was immediately clear; it was publicised WHO was on the tables (though only on the forums really, and not all con-goers read those), but it wasn't really explained WHY they were there; before coming to chat to you myself I wasn't really sure of the purpose of the cosplay guests, and as I'm generally quite nervous about saying hello to strangers, I didn't do that until I'd done the photoshoot to sort of scope out what you were like from the safety of a group. That said, that was more of a failing of Showmasters rather than yourselves for not making it clear. As for the guests themselves, I have to admit that you were the only one I really interacted with for the aforementioned nervousness reasons. That said, it was great to be able to just chat about cosplaying and Doctor Who; that's what I like about the conventions, it gives an opportunity to be able to chat to anyone about your interests (even though i'm not great at tapping that opportunity). But if the others were as chatty and friendly as you, then I think it's a good idea. The panels were also a good idea, although I wasn't really sure whether they had any strategy for getting a wide range of panels; they managed to, but I suspected it was more luck, as they did invite people before discussing with them what their panels might be. What would they have done if everyone had chosen to do a panel on, for example, performing in cosplay? That might've been an issue. Again, more a showmasters issue than the guests themselves. So in all, I think it is a good idea showmasters had to do the cosplay guests, but it's a little oddly executed at the moment, and could use some refinement. But the guests themselves, gooood.

Having done it from 'both sides of the table' so to speak I'm intrigued what others thought. Please let me know the positives and negatives I think the cosplay guests AND the cosplay panels I attended were one of my favorite things about the con! I mean, once I got over being super intimidated by everyone, it was interesting to hear about people's experiences with cosplay and all that. It's kind of different from seeing actors or whatever, it's basically just interacting with people who are like you but just more experienced, if you know what I mean? I've only been doing this for a little bit and hearing people say they've been doing it for like, almost 10 years and they're incredible really made me think more seriously about my (newfound!) hobby. Also seeing cosplay guests who haven't done it for that long and yet are really really amazing was great as well! ....also I learned a lot about crafting and all of that from that Cosplay for beginners panel and that's something I'd never even thought about before... and now, last night, I ended up looking at worbla over on CosCraft and planning stuff. So. Yeah. It was useful. And definitely REALY fun. I'm just rambling now...

Do you think it made you more or less approachable to the public? I didn't guage any negativity towards the cosplay guests but I know personally I'm less likely to go and talk to someone behind a table than I am if they're just walking round in cosplay. I got a few photos with several people over the weekend but none with anyone from the cosplay area. Just a thought really.
From a personal point of view and probably more as a member of this forum, it was great to know where to go to find people (not just you haha). Several times wandering round I arranged to meet forum members back at the cosplay area or knew that when I was done pottering on my own there'd be somewhere I could go back to find a friendly face. Don't know if this goes in your positive column though because I don't think that was the original intention of it lol.

Once I had got to know people a bit, I found myself coming back to the table every so often just to see who was about.

I didn't know where to find people on the Saturday and was busy looking around trying to find others from the forum. And because of this didn't hardly get any photos and felt very sad.
