I'm not a Clara cosplayer myself, and I haven't been doing the makeup thing long enough to feel like I can give you good practical advice from my own experience (unless you're already familiar with the art concepts that I find helpful for contouring). But I have found that it's really helpful for me to watch a bunch of youtube makeup tutorials. I like to start with ones specific to the character (I know Clara Oswald posted one here on the forum a while ago) and just pick out the helpful bits in each one. (Also a note I've found that "inspired" tutorials are typically a bit less helpful, while ones that specifically mention cosplay have a better track record for actually achieving the same look as the character.) I also like to occasionally go and watch general makeup guru's tutorials, because I do think that some of them are better at explaining the techniques behind what you're doing, which is sort of like taking an art class instead of buying a paint by numbers kit. The paint by numbers kit will tell you what colors you need and where you want to put them, but the art class will help you figure out how to do anything you want with a blank canvas. When looking for tutorials though, I'd definitely search for something like "makeup contouring" to get you started. This is also something I've found very helpful, and I've saved it to my phone as reference. Googling it I found other similar diagrams, but I like this one because you can see all of it very clearly and it's all labelled. Also probably good to note that this isn't a guide to say you need to put makeup all of the areas denoted, but it is a good starting point to know where people generally contour, while Clara-specific tutorials will be better for telling you where Clara contours. (One that I thought was pretty good for contouring and that might make a good starting point is one by Jenniferladybug on youtube, and I like it because I think she both puts a good amount of thought into it and does it well in that she looks quite a bit more like Jenna Coleman once she's done.) I hope this was at least somewhat useful!
