People just don't know how to appreciate anything "classic" anymore. My brother has been told that he dresses like an old man before, but I think he looks very handsome in his bow tie (he's been wearing them long before "bow ties are cool") and vests. He follows a page called "The Art of Manliness" which talks about classic looks and what it means to be a man. It's pretty cool. So don't let people bother you about the hat. Heck, I wear my fedora on rainy days and get the Indiana Jones jokes, but I don't care, I know it looks great on, and my head is dry, and theirs isn't, lol. Its just I don't have the confidence to do so. Plus I worry a lot about what others think of me.

That's...actually about the only time I wear my cosplays, actually. No conventions around here, so I have to settle for wearing them out in public. My 11 jacket draws the most stares (you don't usually see girls my age walking about in tweed jackets), but it's all good fun. One day I'm going to find someone to be the Doctor and I'll dress up as Clara, and we're going to run around downtown. But it's really fun to do, especially when I get my friends involved. But once my Bells of Saint John alt gets in, and once I finally get my Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS dress taken up in the shoulders...I have a feeling I'll pretty much be living out of those dresses. XD

I'm super excited about cosplaying in public this winter. Between my 4 scarf and also TARDIS winter hat and coat, any Whovians in my area will know it!

I tend to only cosplay at conventions, and on the way to/from conventions. I've considered cosplaying at other times, but I think I'd feel a lot more awkward about people staring outside a convention so I don't know if I'd ever do it. I also don't really have any costumes that would really fit in with modern day fashion, unlike people who cosplay as companions, so I'd stick out more than, say, someone wearing an Amy cosplay.

Although I can't really speak from experience as I've only ever cosplayed the once, I personally probably wouldn't. The outfit that I have I will wear again in public (Vivien dresses are great for weddings/parties/etc) but not intentionally as a cosplay. If that makes any sense at all (it did in my head but that's not saying much lol).

Makes perfect sense to me - you will wear cosplay clothing, but you won't intentionally cosplay.

I couldn't wear my Seventh Doctor and Eleventh Doctor outfit in public apart from conventions.

Makes perfect sense to me - you will wear cosplay clothing, but you won't intentionally cosplay. I'm pretty much borderline here. Some of my regular day outfits can be treated as inaccurate cosplay - my favourite everyday outfit being Series 6 Eleven with the burgundy bow-tie with black or maroon converse shoes. And one of my more recent outfits was a purple frockcoat/burgundy shirt/black chinos combo, which actually looked pretty cool if I do say so myself. ^_^ Another funny thing is that after LFCC, me and Erin went travelling in London for a few hours, (Piccadilly circus, etc.) All I did was remove my bow-tie and undid a couple of buttons on the shirt, while she swapped out her Oswin belt, and we blended in perfectly. (Heck, anything goes in London. I could have been dressed as the 6th Doctor and it would have probably only got a few glances. XD )

I have thought about it and would love to do it but I would hate my self if I lost one pin badge from my jacket but I would wear it for a photoshoot or fan filming as it whereas conventions. I go to and from conventions with my jacket on as soon as I put it on it don't come off.

I cosplay as 11 and 4 at work and in the streets. Because of my look, I kind of make the clothes seem normal. Moreover, people that know me understand that I am kind of awry anyway, so it is not really a big deal. I am going to make a cosplay page dedicated to cosplaying in public.

I haven't wore my third doctor cosplay outside except at a fancy dress party, mostly due to this because a velvet smoking jacket on an eighteen year old might look out of place, however when I finish my fifth doctor cosplay, I'll certainly be wearing it outside especially with the summer coming in and it's easy on the eyes ^^

I've worn my full Twelve around town before (without the gray hair). Sure, I got some glances and looks but most people just thought I was a very sharply dressed man. Actually got a few compliments on my coat. I've also been out in my Nine before but nobody who's not a Whovian will look twice at a Nine in a crowd. His attire is too casual for anyone to speculate anything. I regularly wear my Four scarf when it's cold out with anything I'm wearing. Granted, I only have the 7 foot store bought scarf right now. I'd sure as heck wear the full length scarf out too, if I had one. I’ve been known to carry a sonic, or two, around too because… well, I can.
