I know there's a few of us here who cosplay Ten, and make copious use of styling products in the process.
So, as ashamed as I am to admit that as a woman of 32 I'm just now learning to use hair product, I've really only started in the few weeks since I started getting serious about cosplaying. I have two pomades that I use, a cheaper Garnier Fructise one that I use in general day to day and to practice getting that Ten fringe just right, and the higher end/more expensive American Crew one that I use for more "formal" occasions. Problem is, my current shampoo just doesn't cut it in getting the AC pomade out of my hair. If you use the American Crew or another of the high end pomades, what kind of shampoo do you use to get it out at the end of the day? Because after two rounds of shampoo and a conditioner, fresh out of the shower and dried, I really shouldn't still be able to style it without additional product >.<

I use 'salon level' shampoo and conditioner.
When I do Ten hair I can sleep on it and it'll still be styled in the morning...
As such my hair is washed daily and I use Tresemmé brand shampoo/conditioner.
Hope that's of help?

Try using a baking soda and organic cider vinegar wash in place of shampoo. The cider vinegar has to have the bits in it and be cloudy, so try a whole foods or GNC for it. I used to wash my hair with this and it would get out all the product residue and leave my hair silky and healthy after. simplemom.net/how-to-clean-your-hair-without-shampoo/A vinegar/water solution is also best used to wash your produce and remove the waxy buildup most suppliers add to make the produce look prettier in the store and last longer. It wouldn't hurt to try, but you may need to do a few rinses if you are using very heavy product in your hair.

When I've overdone it with the hair glue, I use a tea-tree oil shampoo that works wonders (sadly I don't remember the name off hand). Otherwise Garnier Fructis Pure Clean works great daily and with my other products, double wash for stubborn product.

What I also find helps in addition to a good shampoo and conditioner is a really powerful shower, I've almost come unstuck at events before where the shower has been a slow trickle as getting gel, wax and hair spray out is impossible under those circumstances...

Soft showers are actually my biggest pet peeve ever.
That's not really cosplay-related but I felt like I should throw it out there, haha. I used to have ridiculously long hair and it was practically IMPOSSIBLE to wash it under the circumstances :/

Any shampoo that is "detox" of "clarifying" should work best. The baking soda trick does wonders as well. Just be careful if you color your hair, these shampoos and clarifying treatments will strip the color.

Happily, stripping the color out would be a plus for me! >.< lol Dyed it black back in May, before the decision to cosplay. My natural brown is much better for Ten, and it hasn't grown as fast as I'd like. Got it cut a few weeks back, and it's brown with these long black tips... ugh.
