I seem to find my alts or character inspired pieces at the thrift store, which is great as my husband doesn't mind me dropping a few bucks here and there for items, but when I want to find a SA piece, yeah he usually flips at the price.

Hooray for thrift shops/consignment shops! And I'm glad I'm not alone in having the significant other do a serious eye-roll when I want to splurge on something SA/extremely close to SA. He was not too happy when I spent a pretty penny on my TATM parka, and I cringe if he only knew how much the shoes were. He is offering to help fund my All Saints dress (if I ever win the darn thing!) as a belated birthday gift though, so I suppose that's something.

Whenever I go out shopping, I hardly ever look for clothes for myself anymore, haha Always on the lookout for the perfect alt! I kind of hate myself for getting into screen accurate pieces though, it's so very satisfying owning them, but oh my gosh, so expensive! Thankfully I suck a finding SA clothing online, so I haven spent too much money. I think. /cough

I very rarely shop for things myself. Most of my closet could be used as some character or other. Yesterday, I went in my favorite store with the intention of buying some pieces for myself. What did I end up with? A dress I'm altering for Clara's Christmas skirt, an alt for her jacket in Hide/Bells of Saint John and a S4 Rose jacket alt, who I don't even cosplay! xD Maybe I'll have to start, though. XD

I think in the weeks since I decided to start doing cosplay, I've been to the thrift stores more often than I have in the last 10 years combined! Doesn't help that not only has my 11 year old daughter decided she wants to join in (and is now the proud owner of a pretty passable 11th Doctor costume, sans jacket, with a Weeping Angel costume in progress), but my hubby has decided he wants in too (I'll have my very own Captain Jack Harkness, yum!). But yeah, between that and my new goal to own all 13 screen accurate Ten ties, I have another round of the shops planned for next weekend.

I do my best to stay out if thrift shops! Always end up finding goodies for costumes and start new projects that pile on top of the already existent projects that are in the works. Thrift stores get me into trouble.

*sighs* I'm afraid I've fallen in too deep, just found and purchased Clara's cardigan from TBoSJ. I got it for only 12$ though, so I'm not hurting too bad

Just went thrifting yesterday and found some great Clara inspired dresses. I'm very happy! Now I go shopping with the thought "What would Clara pick out?" Is that bad?

Not at all. 'Cause that's...pretty much what I do. xD Which leads me to buy quite a few dresses...

I'm absolutely terrible but I have such a long list that I want to get that if I don't spend 90% of my shopping time in cosplay stuff I'll never get it all done!
