I must say that with series7b it feels much more like classic who. Clara reminds me more of a classic who companion, also with Matts frockcoat and waistcoat is a nod to some classic who Doctors. Also the fact they have his face in the title sequence is a real nod back to the classic era as this trend started with Troughton through to McCoy. I thought Cold War and Ice Time were very good stories and I loved seeing the return of the Ice warriors. Great to actually see under there armour for once. Hide reminded me a little of Ghost Light set in the haunted house/mansion. I feel Matt in this series is more serious I feel. His speech in Rings of... Well can't spell the last word, but you know the story, is really fantastic. It will be really sad to see Matt go as I was looking forward to another series with him and Clara in. Would the 50th anniversary and the xmas special be list in series 7b or not? Even though I wasn't a fan of The Crimson Horror (loved the Tegan reference) thought Diana Rigg and her daughter were superb. I love Strax, Jenny and Vastra and am glad they will be carrying on with Doctor Twelve. I thought The Name of the Doctor was really the best though loved the interaction between Clara and The First Doctor. And John Hurts appearance at the end really was, well I was shocked. I thought it was David Tennant at first.

I whole heartedly agree! When I watched the Christmas special I kinda jumped up and down in excitement when the opening sequence came up and I saw Matt's face. Definitely a no back to the classic era. Many of the stories of this half of the series remind me of classic ones, and I think that's why some people haven't enjoyed them as much. Now I can only say that Clara reminds me only of Sarah Jane as far as being like a classic companion. There were a lot of "screaming girls" who tagged along throughout the classic series. I can only name a handful who are as brave and spunky as Clara is.
I cannot WAIT for the 50th. I wish they were showing it in the cinemas here, but as far as I know they are not.

The interior of the Tardis is also smaller like in the Classic Series. I believe the Tardis scanner is back on the console like in the Eccleston/Tennant era, which I wasn't that keen on. Its a shame though that there have been no two parters in this. I would of loved one two parter in this part of Series 7. Mind you there was a cliffhanger at the end of Name of the Doctor which will lead onto the 50th Anniversary Special.

I thoroughly enjoyed 7b. I feel like it was Who returning to what it was good at after a Season-that-shall-not-be-named and a half season that could have said godbye to the Ponds a lot sooner and gotten back to having a good Doctor-y time. I did miss having any 2-parters, but if that's what the team needed to cleanse their creative palettes and get the show back on track, so be it. I am very much looking forward to the 50th, the Holiday Special, and what Season 8 & Doctor #12/13 will bring.

I normally get shouted at when I start talking about Doctor Who... I end up with my reviewer head on and it goes down hill from there... Anywho, S7.2 was good, best part of it was definitely The Name of The Doctor. Clara, still just doesn't sit well for me, maybe she'll grow on me in series 8 as she'l no longer just be a plot point... But I digress, the best place to find out what I (and my partner in crime Tim) this is over on the Journeys in Fandom Podcast Website.
