If you know of a local event happening, please follow these steps for creating it. This will keep the board easy to read and follow. This will also prevent people from missing out on an event in their area or that they may want to attend.
Your Subject title should be easy to read in an instant. An example of a title could be "New York Comic Con; Javits Center NYC; Oct 9-12 2014" this tells the what, the where, and the when. You can change the date read-out for what ever is common in your area (since the UK and US use a different date format). You can then get creative in the post itself with details and arrangements. You can always edit your date and place in the title, just be sure to put it in the post itself as an edit in Bold. If you have a Facebook page/website for your local group or the event, be sure to post that in the details as well. Sometimes things can be posted in one spot, but not another, so this will help keep everyone who is interested informed.
Example:
SUBJECT LINE: New York Comic Con; Javits Center NYC; Oct 9-12 2014
THREAD CONTENT:
What: New York Comic Con 2014
Website: www.newyorkcomiccon.com/
Local Group: www.facebook.com/groups/whoviancosplayny/
Where: Javits Center, 11th Ave and 34th Street
When: Oct 9-12 2014
Details: It's time for NYCC again! Who's going? Did you get your passes yet? If anyone is coming from out of town, maybe we can all help each other find a hotel room or room mate. I'm sure there will be a DW photo-shoot again, when it is announced, it will be posted in this thread. Since that shoot would be at NYCC you would need to buy a pass to get in and participate. Lets all start planning!
If there was an to your event, it would look like the below entry. Most planned conventions don't really change dates very often, so you probably won't need to worry about editing.
EDIT: The date has changed for the convention from Oct 9-12 to Oct 10-12
*** If there is an EDIT to be made to the event for any reason, be sure to add it to the post in BOLD and red so that it is noticed right away and no one misses out.
*** Once your event is over and was a success, post your photos and what not in the thread for all to see. Maybe people missed out or others from afar want to see what your group was up to. We all love photos! Your thread will then be moved to the "Past Events" board to keep the "Events" boards from becoming cluttered with old events.
