A friend of mine is doing Nightmare in Silver!Clara, and I'm trying to help her figure out how to make it. I have...never made a prop in my life, except for the very basics. Any help at all would be excellent!

Not sure if you are still looking into this but you could repaint a Nerf gun for the basic shape and add additional parts to complete.  Not found a great shot from the episode but I think this is the Production artwork. For the basic shape you may find a Nerf Stampede might work.  The barrel end will need additional work but it saves making completely from scratch. And if you are careful while painting you could always still fire the darts  |

I made mine from a nerf gun that actually lights up and makes sounds as if it is charging.
