I am a Clara cosplayer and I've been told that I look like her by several people. One of my friends sometimes even calls me Clara on accident when I'm being particularly difficult with her. But the thing is...my hair. It is quite curly (sometimes as curly as River's). I can straighten it, but when I do it is stick straight. And Clara's hair curls under wonderfully and I can't figure out how to get it to do that! I usually curl it under with a straightener, but it doesn't quite work out as well as I'd like. Any help would be fantastic! Attachments:

I think I can be of some help here. I recently cut my SUPER long hair so that I could have the Clara look. Before And after: When it was long it was quite wavy and I'd have to straighten it all the time, which was a pain because it's SO thick. Now that it is short, I discovered that it's even wavier then before! So here are a few simple things I do to get Clara hair: 1. After washing it twice in the shower, I comb it out really well. You might even want to comb it in the shower while conditioning it, then rinse and comb again after drying it. After combing it I brush it through well, flipping it under as I go. If you have a round brush, this might help. If your hair is still being stubborn, try adding some product at this point so that its as straight as possible. 2. I now blow dry mine with a comb defusser. Unlike other defussers, this actually combs my hair as I go. If you have a round brush and a concentrator that will work even better with curly hair! Brush under and blow dry that area on top as you go. You might have to dry it in sections. 3. After my hair is nearly completely dry, I run the straightener through it, doing it in sections, and flipping it under as I go. I usually straighten the bottom layer first and then the top. 4. Last but not least! Clara has very sleek, silky hair. I use a wee bit of pomade on the top just to hold down nasty fly aways and make it look better! I hope this helps! While I don't have curly hair, I think some of the tricks I use might be beneficial. You also might want to talk to your salon and find out what they recommend. My friend is a hairstylist and cuts my hair like Clara's and I go to her for advice all the time. If you have someone you use regularly, they will be very aware of your hair type and even recommend some great products for you to try!

Ooh, thank you very much! I'll try that tonight. I never thought about using a comb defuser. That will probably help me to get it smoother as I'm dying it. Thanks again.

I find straighteners can actually ruin nicely turned under hair. Use a large barrel brush but make sure the bristles are boar bristle or similar (if that makes sense, some barrel brushes have sparse bristles but you want nicely compacted ones so that your hair doesn't just slip off the brush as you dry, you want the hair to stay around the barrel of the brush). I dry my hair in section pulling the brush outwards and away as I dry and then wrapping the hair round the barrel of the brush as you get to the end. It's really quite a quick and effective way of ensuring bounce but the bristles make all the difference, I cannot dry my hair with an awful brush.
